Duluth Superior Pride 2020 (In Person) Festival at Bayfront Park
Has Been Cancelled
May 27, 2020, Duluth Minnesota. The Duluth Superior Pride Committee held a special meeting on Tuesday May 26 to discuss the upcoming 2020 Duluth Superior Pride Festival. In lieu of the COVID – 19 Pandemic and uncertainty of the status of the safety in holding such an event, the Committee voted to cancel 2020’s (in-person) Pride Festival held annually at Bayfront Festival Park, Labor Day weekend. This year’s festival would have been held on Saturday September 5th.
It is a difficult and sad decision for committee members and the LGBTQIA2S+ community who look forward to this celebration every year. The committee felt the safety of our community members could not be guaranteed and didn’t feel it wise to take the risk of people becoming ill due to COVID 19. Duluth Superior Pride Festival has been an event that has spanned 33 years in the area. The committee wants to assure the community that we are discussing alternatives to an in person festival such as a virtual celebration, art show, musical entertainment and other events to keep this annual event a time of true celebration for the Duluth Superior area.
